Ms. Sheehan served as a panelist at the ABA Forum on Affordable Housing and Urban Development Law, May, 2007, 16th Annual Conference, where she spoke on HUD items and general legal concepts in transaction documents.
Ms. Sheehan has addressed in a public forum the use of “Garvee Bonds” (Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicles named after Jane F. Garvey, the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration official who encouraged and approved the creation and use as a financing concept) to securitize the future appropriation of public housing Capital Funds to be used as a financing tool in connection with development activities.
Ms. Sheehan served as a panelist at the 2001 Spring Forum of the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association in Washington, D.C., where she spoke on issues related to HOPE VI, Mixed Finance & Public Housing Redevelopment.
Ms. Sheehan served as the “Moderator” of a panel presenting at the Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Law in May, 1998 in Washington, DC on the topic:“What’s a Real Estate Lawyer Doing in Affordable Housing and Economic Development?”In connection with that, Ms. Sheehan assembled the panelists and coordinated the outlines and materials to be distributed and the presentations to be made.
Ms. Sheehan served as a panel presenter at the February, 1998 Carolina Counsel of Housing, Redevelopment & Codes, Officials Winter Workshop on the topic of Public/Private Partners in Mixed-Finance Transactions.
Ms. Sheehan served as a panelist at the Housing and Development Law Institute’s Fourteenth Annual CLE (Continuing Legal Education) Conference in San Diego, California on November 25, 1997.Ms. Sheehan was the most highly rated speaker at the Conference (among all presenters on all panels) by those in attendance.
In January, 1997, Ms. Sheehan served as the main presenter at the Technical Session:“Public Housing and Community Development:Changing Roles in Emerging Opportunities” at the National Community Development Association’s 1997 Winter Meeting.
In November, 1996, Ms. Sheehan served as a panelist covering partnerships between public housing authorities and private developers at the Fall National Technical Assistance and Training Conference sponsored by the HUD Office of Public Housing Investments.
Ms. Sheehan was a speaker on a panel discussion on “HOPE VI - Then and Now” at the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ms. Sheehan was a speaker on a panel discussion entitled “Financing Toolbox The Right Tools For The Right Job,” at NAHRO’s (National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials) Summer conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ms. Sheehan served as a panelist at the Seventh Annual Conference of the American Bar Association Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law addressing, among other concepts, affordable housing finance.
Ms. Sheehan has lectured on Advance Real Estate Law in Maryland for the National Business Institute, Inc.
